Transfers

140 km · 2.5h
Airport-to-Gudauri is the single most-booked transfer of the season. Meet-and-greet at arrivals with a name sign, straight up the Georgian Military Road over the Jvari Pass. Winter tyres and chains on every vehicle; 4x4 available when the pass is limited.

120 km · 2.3h
Pickup from your Tbilisi hotel or apartment, straight to your Gudauri accommodation. Shared seats available on the morning run; whole-vehicle any time.

180 km · 3.3h
Three hours south via Gori and the Borjomi gorge. A common combination: transfer to Bakuriani, ride the narrow-gauge train back to Borjomi as a day trip.

155 km · 3h4x4
Over the Jvari Pass and 30 km further to Stepantsminda under Mount Kazbek. Winter: 4x4 recommended and often mandatory. Photo stops at Gudauri and the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument by default.

35 km · 0.7h4x4
The classic rest-day drive from Gudauri: 40 minutes north to Gergeti Trinity Church and the Kazbek panorama. 4x4 only in winter.

240 km · 5.5h
Long haul: 5–6 hours through the Enguri gorge to Upper Svaneti. Best done in daylight for the road itself. Break at Zugdidi.
Six resorts

Gudauri is Georgia's largest lift-served resort, an open-mountain amphitheatre two hours from Tbilisi. Wide beginner pistes on the lower slopes, real above-treeline freeriding higher up, and a growing paragliding scene make it the default first-week choice for most visitors.

Bakuriani is where Georgian families learn to ski. Gentler terrain than Gudauri, several separated ski areas (Didveli, Kokhta, Mitarbi, 25) connected by shuttle, and a full village at the base with rentals, schools and cafés. Hosted the 2023 FIS Freestyle World Championships.

Tetnuldi is the high, quiet resort above Mestia in Upper Svaneti. Long groomed reds, uncrowded lifts, and off-piste that opens straight from the top station. The catch: the access road is 4x4 only and there is nothing at the base — you sleep and eat in Mestia and shuttle up each day.

Hatsvali is the smaller resort ten minutes from Mestia — one gondola, one lift, a mid-station café. Perfect first day for anyone based in Mestia to test the legs and the snow before committing to a full Tetnuldi day.

Goderdzi is Georgia's snowiest resort. Weather off the Black Sea dumps meters at a time onto tree-line terrain that is groomed but also ripe for cat-skiing and ski-touring. The catch: the road from Batumi is 4x4 only in winter and takes four hours.

Kazbegi is not a lift resort. What it is: a village at 1,750 m under a 5,033 m glaciated peak, with guided ski-touring, freeride day trips from Gudauri (30 km) and helicopter access. Come here for a route, not a lift ticket, and hire a certified mountain guide — the terrain is genuinely alpine.
